Enjoy this practical one day workshop, in a relaxed environment, focused on developing drawing and visual communication skills needed for the new Graphics Technology syllabus.

Suitable for all TAS teachers Yrs 7-10 interested in practical and engaging step by step design methodologies for teaching students hand to digital fluency for graphics. Developing these processes will assist any teacher in supporting their students become proficient in producing drawings for design, manufacturing and marketing.

These processes can be hard to learn from a textbook, and as an award winning industrial design and registered teacher I can confidently help you target areas for improvement to ensure you fast track your own practical skills during this workshop in readiness for implementation in the classroom.

Sessions

Session 1 – INTRODUCTION TO GRAPHICS TECHNOLOGY
  • Review the current role of graphics across industry.
  • Investigate As 1100 Technical Drawing standards to use with your students
Session 2 –DESIGN IN GRAPHICS
  • Learn about visualisation techniques to help students develop problem solving skills
  • Apply freehand drawing techniques required to visualise objects.
Session 3 – PLANNING AND CONSTRUCTION
  • Discover the core shapes & forms for successfully planning and constructing drawings.
  • Use simple tools & strategies to get your students thinking, drawing and designing in isometric.
Session 4 – PRESENTATION
  • Learn quick rendering techniques to enhance the visualisation of products or concepts.
  • Produce a graphic for presentation with annotations to conveying product and technical information.

 

Completing Design School – Graphics Technology will contribute 5 hours of NESA Registered PD addressing 2.1.2 and 6.2.2, from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
